Todd Bauer, Bert Liverance and Sue Moir
June 1-23, 2006 -- Hillsboro
Todd Bauer and Bert Liverance are painters who have invested considerable study to evolve the use of paint – but with very different results. Both painters focus in on a central figure, a limited palette and a single theme. Bauer paints abstractly using direct painting and drip techniques to make spare compositions placing his work somewhere between minimalism and abstract expressionism. Liverance paints work that is highly illustrative macro views of flowers, luminous with glazed colors. Sue Moir is a glass artist whose work seems to visually bridge the gap between the two. Moir's glass work ranges from biomorphic abstractions to functional pieces that are vibrant and rich in color. Opening reception on Tuesday, May 2nd from 6 to 8 PM. Britt Festival

Portland conductor John Trudeau and several friends were visiting Southern Oregon and stumbled upon the former hillside estate of Jacksonville pioneer Peter Britt. Being musicians, they immediately noticed an amazing resonance to the hillside's acoustics. Combined with the gorgeous view of the valley in the distance, they decided the hillside would be the perfect

The Glenn and Viola Walters Cultural Arts Center presents an exhibition of artwork by Todd Bauer, Sue Moir and Ronald Rasch. Both abstract painters, Todd Bauer and Ronald Rasch work within a similar motif, the circle, but with different results. Sue Moir is a functional and non-functional glass artist. Moir’s work, varying from elegant decorative vases to organically shaped art pieces, provides a comfortable meeting place between the two painters diverse styles. The Arts Center, located at 527 East Main Street in Hillsboro, Oregon, will host an opening reception with the artists from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Tuesday, May 2. This event is free and open to the public.
