Linn County Pioneer Picnic
June 16-18, 2006 -- Brownsville
Pioneer Picnic is Oregon's oldest continuing celebration. The first Picnic, a reunion of Pioneers, was held in 1887. At early picnics, families from all over Linn County came by buggy, horse and wagon, pitched their tents in the park and settled in for three days of fun, worship and fellowship. They entertained each other with recitations, plays and musical numbers. Picnic cloths were spread beneath the trees. Spirited Sunday sermons were also an important part of the annual celebration. With the passing of time and the actual pioneers, the picnic changed to include other entertainment and activities. Today, the picnic welcomes all those who enjoy old-time fun and good fellowship. "The Battle Of Lake Creek II"
June 17-18, 2006 -- Lake Creek
Civil War Reenactment Event in Lake Creek. This event was highly popular in it’s first outing last year, and promises to draw more Civil War Reenactors and spectators this year. Battles will be held over the weekend at 11AM and 3PM both Saturday and Sunday. The cost for the event is Adults $8, Children (5-12) and Seniors $5, Families of four and more only $20. Children under 5 free. Gates open at 9AM and close at 5PM. At Lake Creek, only 25 miles out of Medford. Take Highway 62, (the Crater Lake Highway) to Highway 140 in White City.
