June 1-23, 2006 -- Hillsboro
Todd Bauer and Bert Liverance are painters who have invested considerable study to evolve the use of paint – but with very different results. Both painters focus in on a central figure, a limited palette and a single theme. Bauer paints abstractly using direct painting and drip techniques to make spare compositions placing his work somewhere between minimalism and abstract expressionism. Liverance paints work that is highly illustrative macro views of flowers, luminous with glazed colors. Sue Moir is a glass artist whose work seems to visually bridge the gap between the two. Moir's glass work ranges from biomorphic abstractions to functional pieces that are vibrant and rich in color. Opening reception on Tuesday, May 2nd from 6 to 8 PM.
